looking back

Untitled-1

Many years ago, I was sitting in Noel Barnhurst's class, wondering who the next model was going to be for my assignment. Having exhausted all friends, my eyes started to wonder across the classroom. With her striking features and quiet demeanor, the girl sitting next to me exceeded my expections. I could not have asked for a better model. The two images above eventually got published in CMYK Magazine.

This past November, I was honored to shoot her wedding in Yosemite National Park. Can't wait to share!

patrick

Patrick has been a friend of mine for years and I was lucky enough to have him as my assistant this past weekend in Mendocino. We met years ago in art school and have continued to inspire each other. On top of being an amazing photographer, he helps run Pacheco Ranch Winery. If you ever get the chance, try their 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon... it's my fav!

emily + justin

Having worked with this family before, I knew Emily as a sweet sister and warmhearted daughter. It was great seeing her as a beautiful bride too. As it poured, Emily & Justin tied the knot under a tent in her parent's backyard. All the rain went unnoticed beneath the dry tent filled with good music, food, and people.

farica + roy

This past February, I was asked to shoot Farica and Roy in NYC before they moved to Hong Kong. I must say, Farica's laugh made the whole trip worth while. She's got the best laugh!  They were such a joy to work with and so easygoing. Best of luck to the two of you!

mendocino, ca

I left the city a few hours early to explore before a shoot in Mendocino. I was sure to pack the contax 645. There is something to be said about the patience of film... and this little town. I am excited to be returning again in the fall for a beautiful wedding.

nantucket folks

Nantucketers are always worth blogging about. It's not too often you get asked to a post Argentina / pre Appalachian BBQ. Steve Pignato (top photo) just got back from a 2 month stint in Argentina and is now gearing up to hike the Appalachian trail. Host, also another Nantucketer, grilled up some amazing food while we all enjoyed the GORGEOUS Thursday afternoon.

I've introduced a new camera to the bag. Last night was its first time out at a wedding and the response was great. Being able to hand the bride & groom an image 30 seconds after it was taken is a great feeling. They get the positive and I bring home the negative. In the end, they get both the print and the scanned negative that you see above.
